Os X 10.11 Installer

Setting Up A Database

Rails ships with sqlite3 as the default database. Chances are you won't want to use it because it's stored as a simple file on disk. You'll probably want something more robust like MySQL or PostgreSQL.

There is a lot of documentation on both, so you can just pick one that seems like you'll be more comfortable with. Cubase 6.5.

I've tried to install the OS X 10.11 Developer Beta 1 on a MacBook Pro 2,2 (late 2006, ATI X1600, EFI32). I could easily create the patched Installer with my Guide from Yosemite. It booted with the Boot.efi by Pike and loads OSX 10.11, but then it gets stuck on the first Install screen where you normally have to click 'Continue'. After months of testing and development, Apple is finally letting you download and install Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan for free from the Mac App Store. Apple initially introduced the world to OS X El Capitan during this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) back in June, as has become company tradition. It installs an app named Install Version Name. Open that app from your Applications folder to begin installing the operating system. MacOS Sierra 10.12 can upgrade El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion; OS X El Capitan 10.11 can upgrade Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard. Unless you downloaded the initial release of El Capitan (10.11) and saved the Install OS X El Capitan.app file, you won't be able to download it from Apple. All that is available is the current version 10.11.1.

If you're new to Ruby on Rails or databases in general, I strongly recommend setting up PostgreSQL. Turbotax state hack.

If you're coming from PHP, you may already be familiar with MySQL.

MySQL

You can install MySQL server and client from Homebrew:

Once this command is finished, it gives you a couple commands to run. Follow the instructions and run them:

By default the mysql user is root with no password.

When you're finished, you can skip to the Final Steps.

PostgreSQL

You can install PostgreSQL server and client from Homebrew:

Once this command is finished, it gives you a couple commands to run. Follow the instructions and run them:

By default the postgresql user is your current OS X username with no password. For example, my OS X user is named chris so I can login to postgresql with that username.

Q. I have Mac OS X 10.6.8/10.7.x/10.8.x/10.9.x/10.10.x but I don't have a permanent connection to the internet. Will this be a problem?

A. El Capitan will not be available on optical disc or a USB thumb drive so your options are:
  1. Use a different internet connection to yours that does not have an internet access data cap in place.
