I am running OS X 10.11 El Capitan (however, the problem goes back to OS X 10.10). When an update to the operating system is available in the App Store and I click on 'Update All' or 'Update' next to the individual components (such as 'HP Printer Software Update 3.1' or 'Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 6.18') the progress bar pops up and the message underneath reads 'Installing -- Calculating..' and then a few seconds later it disappears and nothing happened.

I have tried the following (and some other stuff that I don't recall. This problem goes back nearly a year!):

-I verified and repaired permissions on my HDD

-I have tried installing while logged into the admin account
